Requesting qualifications for professional regional artists to paint murals on overpasses along the Kingsport Greenbelt
Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
The City of Kingsport, under the direction of the Office of Cultural Arts, with advisement from both the Public Art Committee and the Greenbelt Committee, is requesting qualifications for professional regional artists to paint murals on overpasses along the Kingsport Greenbelt. At this time, the project consists of two murals, which may grow to more. The suggested theme for the murals are vintage Kingsport, or nature you would find along the greenbelt. Text should only be used if significant to the design of the mural.
Background:
The Kingsport Greenbelt is a part of the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Kingsport. The city is looking to make the Greenbelt more beautiful and inviting by adding artwork to overpasses along the path. There are different layouts to the overpasses. The two that are up for current artists’ consideration are the Eastman Road overpass, and the Clinchfield Street overpass. Artists may submit entrees for one or both overpass murals, but must indicate which street they are applying for. Artists are encouraged to research the overpasses included in this project.
